As you’ve probably guessed, this site is dedicated to the design of deep sky objects, and more specifically the extreme. Extreme, first of all by the size of the observation instruments: mainly 508 mm, 635 mm, et 1.20 m !

Extreme also because many objects, actually most of them, belong to the austral sky and have been observed in the exceptional skies of Chili and Namibia. Extreme, insofar as I am attracted to the smallest elements, tiny little specks!

You will of course find several of the better known views of Messier’s catalogue, but you will have the opportunity to observe less-known images some of them quite exceptional, I believe!

  • almost all the nebulous Abell planets
  • all the Palomar globular clusters
  • the main proto-planetary nebulae
  • the extra-galactical globular clusters in M 31 et 33, NGC 147 et 185, the dwarf galaxy of Fourneau and so on
  • more than a dozen gravitational lenses, among them the double quasar and the Einstein Cross and so on

The search function is made easier, information can be accessed by: catalogue, type, correspondence, classification, reference, cross-referencing etc.

For each object, you will find a picture to scale, which will help you compare the field and identify the accessible details according to the diametre of the used instrument.

Left clicking on the images will enlarge them, right clicking will show a real size picture, far larger than the dimension of a computer screen. All data concerning conditions of observation or the objects themselves as well as summaries can be found under the captions.

Clicking on “help-abbreviations” or “help-glossary” can answer some of your questions, it is also advisable to glance at “abbreviations”. At the end of each summary, the key principles are tagged; clicking on them (bottom right) will open the corresponding links. Clicking on T635 for example will open up a page of all the observed views from my Obsession 635mm telescope.

Well, I think that’s it! I wish you good surfing and clear skies! At the end of the summary, the objects will be characterized by its key words. Clicking on them at the bottom right of each page will direct you towards all analogical objects. For example, clicking on “T635” will show you on one page all the images I have observed with my Obsession 635mm.

So, I think that’s all for the moment,. I wish you good surfing and clear skies!
